My most successful project was my participation in the making of the cougar. I really enjoyed how the face turned out and everyone turned out loving it so it got displayed in the trophy case. If I could improve one of my projects it would be the paper clip Elvis. I don't like how messy it looked and there really wasn't much definition to the face. Next time I would layer the paper clips in a different direction and/or bend them into different shapes to fit the face better. The two different pieces of art show something new I'd never done before. Which was use watercolor pencils and paint with my left hand. I liked how both projects turned out even though I was using completely different substances and materials. I think an interesting new unit to try would be blindfold art. Which would be creating art using a substance of preference. I got this idea from the blind portraits we made when walking around blindfolded. It was a very fun experience for most. This would also be very educationial by heightening other senses such as touch and even the sound of the direction in which you would be drawing/sketching, painting, or sculpting.

For this theme project I chose to draw an ant with the weight of the worl on it's shoulders. The theme was a mixture of stress, and about feeling inferior.
Did you pick a material or technique that was new or different over something that was familiar? I used watercolors to create this project, which I'm not very familar with. I wasn't sure if it was going to end up badly, but I love the outcome! What is this artwork intended to say? This artwork is intended to say that some days you might feel so small with the weight of the world on your shoulders, but you have to stay strong and always look at the positive no matter how small it may be. Did you try something that you weren’t sure about as part of this project? I wasn't sure if the insulation was going to get everywhere and become a big mess. Although it turned out to be really fun, and was a good project to try. I really enjoy doing juxtoposition. Did someone help you understand important information or inspire you? My teacher Mr. Sands helped insire me by suggesting different ideas, since I wasn't sure what I was going to create in the beginning. Did you consider how ideas would work before you tried them?
Yes, I had to figure out a strategy on how to get the circle to look like a 3D image at a certain angle. I tried it one way and it wasn't quite right so I took another strategy and it worked out. When did you step back and analyze your work during this project? During the whole process of creating this project I had to keep analyzing it to make sure it would look 3D at a certain angle. I chose to paint this piece of art because I was inspired by Marsden Hartley's oil painting called, "Indian Fantasy." His artwork contained nature, water, and much Native American heritage. I also greatly enjoy nature myself so I created this painting of mountains, trees, grass, the sky and the stream. While doing this project I really enjoyed using new techniques with painting. Such a using a fan brush and learning how to blend better. Also, how blending different colors turns out well and sort of creates a type of realistic feel to the piece. All in all this project inspired me to look further into my native American heritage and see nature in a whole new perspective.
Did you try something that you weren’t sure about as part of this project?
I made the portrait of Elvis with a partner, Zeb, out of paper clips & I wasn't sure how it would work out. It actually looks pretty cool though. What is this artwork intended to say? This artwork is intended to say that you should step out of your boundaries and try something new, even if it might seem risky. Indian Fantasy by: Marsden Hartley
He used oil on canvas to create this piece. I selected this piece because it inspires me because indians are part of my heritage so I'm going to create something unique out of it. How did you use your own unique ideas in your work?
I used my own unique ideas by tracing my own hand into the background and sketching other items into the drawing such as paint brushes and my phone, ect.. I also didn't use the original colors. Did you use a source for inspiration, then combine it with your own ideas to make it original? Yes I observed then added my own ideas. In doing this projects I observed items around the room and drew out their shapes. It was really interesting to see things in a different perspective not just what everyone knows they are.
Sketching in the courtyard helped me understand how to observe everything around me with a different outlook; sketching without going into great detail, sort of like not overthinking. This project also improved my watercolor skills.
